Career & Technology Studies (CTS)
Cosmetology 10, 20, 30 (6 credits each)
Do you want to gain personal confidence and receive beauty industry insight? These 6-credit courses will give you the chance to learn and perform manicures, discover makeup artistry and skin care concepts, and become skilled at hair braiding techniques and the manipulation of hot tools. Cosmetology 10 offers many different opportunities to explore career paths in cosmetology or learn new skills.

Uncertain about your future? Want to leave high school with more than just your diploma? Starting in Grade 11, you can get certified beauty professional training at M.E. LaZerte. These courses are offered as a 22-credit CTS option through which you will gain the first year of technical training for your beauty certification. You will be involved in an industry that is ever-changing and evolving with the newest techniques and trends. Gain skills that will propel your success in the future.
Digital Arts & Technology
Computer Programming 10, 20, 30 (5 credits each)
- Recommendation: Strong math and problem-solving skills
Calling all coders! If you’re interested in learning to write or get better at programming, this is the course for you. Use problem-solving skills to write programs that create solutions for the world’s problems and learn how to build and command robots.
Pre-engineering 15, 25, 35 (Electro-Technology and Design) (6 credits each)
- Co-requisite: Math 10C
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) are vital to the future. In our current technological age, STEM jobs are some of the best options for careers. In this course, you will learn about the fundamentals of good design and apply this to various design challenges. You will learn about robotics and their importance in our world as you build and design a robot of your own. You will also gain important soldering skills as your assemble electronic circuits while learning the theory behind how they function. Students in this course are expected to have strong math skills and work well independently.
Digital Design 10, 20, 30 (6 credits each)
You are the creator, the designer, the storyteller, and the presenter. These courses place your passion for everything creative into our unique and highly specialized Digital Arts & Graphic Design Program. Students will explore graphic art and design, commercial art, digital imaging and publishing, and interactive multimedia, including learning about 3D printing.
Culinary Arts 10, 20, 30 (up to 9 credits each)
In these courses, students can gain an understanding of the preparation, process and basic handling skills required when working with food. Using our commercial kitchen, students will be exposed to various techniques and practical applications of the food and hospitality industry. If you are looking to pursue a career in the tourism, hospitality or food industry or just love food, then this is the course for you!

Learn skills to be a great cook. You will learn about nutrition, meal timing, and how to find your way around a kitchen. Create and enjoy dishes as you explore different cultural foods.

Fashion studies allows students to study current trends as they create and make alterations. No experience is necessary, but the experiences you gain may just lead you to an exciting career in fashion.
Medical Sciences (Formerly Pre-nursing)

Medical is a course designed to give students the knowledge and skills to have success in various medical occupations. The course explores the anatomy and physiology of the various human body systems, which includes supplemental hands on activities that gives practical experience
Construction 10, 20, 30 (6 credits each)
From using hand tools to power tools, you will develop lifelong skills and acquire construction techniques in a fully-equipped construction lab. You’ve heard the term “hands on” and in construction, we mean it! Your family will be impressed when they see the amazing creations you bring home.
Introductory Trades Exploration Building The Trades (12 credits)
In this course, you can experience a variety of trades. If you are curious about the many pathways a career in the trades could take you and want less theory, more application, this course is for you. You will experience auto body, concrete construction, plumbing, electrical, wall finishing and welding trades.
Mechanics 10, 20, 30 (6 credits each)
Interested in vehicles and automotives? Mechanics will help you develop skill in servicing vehicles and an understanding of how to buy, sell and insure vehicles.
Welding 10, 20, 30 (5 credits each)

Student Leadership 10, 20, 30 (3 or 5 credits each)
Students entering the Leadership Program in Grade 10 become engaged in events and volunteering that build school and community spirit. As students volunteer in the school and community, they engage in character development through mentorship, guest speakers, presentations, workshops and self-reflection. This class is for those who are passionate about making a difference! Student Leadership can be taken during the regular daily schedule or as period 5, after-school class.
