Physical Education

Physical Education 10, 20, 30 (6 credits each)

All students should lead healthy and active lifestyles, and a great way to start is through a physical education class. Daily active living is the theme and explored through four main outcomes: movement activities, health benefits, interacting positively with others and personal responsibility. Students will also learn about healthy eating through a nutrition module.

Soccer Physical Education 10, 20, 30 (7 credits each)

Students will receive soccer instruction that covers the curriculum outcomes and credit completion of Physical Education 10. Student training includes a focus on tactical and technical activities. The focus will be on individual soccer skills, and students will advance their knowledge of working in a team environment. Students registered in the course will receive a full uniform (jersey, shorts and socks). They will also receive extra instruction relating to nutrition and coaching.

Healthy Living Physical Education 10, 20, 30 (Females) (6 credits)

Do you want to learn how to live a healthy life through physical activity and nutrition but don’t like traditional phys-ed? Then healthy living girls phys-ed is for you! This class will focus less on team sports and more on individual wellness and healthy living. Girls will have the opportunity to learn how to be healthy while participating in fitness activities including yoga, circuit training, and more. Students can also provide input into activities that interest them and learn about healthy eating through a nutrition module.

CrossFit LaZerte Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 (5 credits each)

If you are interested in increasing your fitness to improve your performance on a sports team or just to look and feel better, CrossFit is for you. This introductory CrossFit class will teach you many full body movements that will increase your strength, flexibility, power and stamina. Every level of fitness is welcome, and we guarantee you will see significant improvements in your fitness goals. Come see what all the craze is about!

Functional Fitness 10, 20, 30 (5 credits each)

In these courses, you’ll learn about fundamental training principles, proper nutrition and sports psychology. These courses provide a great opportunity for students to get in better physical shape and improve their health-related knowledge while participating in a variety of fitness activities. They combine classroom theory and practical application in the areas of personal health, wellness and performance.

Sport Medicine 15, 25, 35 (5 credits each)

  • Recommendation: 65% in Science 9

These courses will introduce students to the world of sports medicine and allow them to explore the prevention, immediate care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Students will get hands-on experience in sports first aid and taping and strapping while learning the functions and purpose of the musculoskeletal system. Sports Medicine 15 is a great introduction course for students thinking of a medical career.
